We’re ready. We’ve bought the jerseys and number 18 can be seen from far and wide. We’ve bought our ticket, we’ve pledged allegiance to Manning, and we’re ready for our ride on the Super Bowl Express.

Well, W…T…F? I got my Manning jersey on so what’s the deal? One loss I can understand. But a loss like the one yesterday to the Texans in our house? No way. Something’s not right here. Is it the refs? The receivers? The coaching? The offense? The defense? It’s certainly not the quarterback. He’s just the man we’ve been waiting for, and we’ve been waiting along time. Ever since Elway, we’ve been waiting for the right man to come along. Griese, Plummer, Cutler, Orton, Tebow? Nope. But now we have our man, our super man, our Super Manning.

There’s just one problem. No one man ever won a Super Bowl… not even a super man. We seem to have forgotten that John Elway did not win the back-to-back Super Bowls for us. We won them for him.

We won back-to-back Super Bowls because we wanted to. We were ready and we wanted it bad enough. The offense wanted it, the defense wanted it, the coaches wanted it, Denver wanted it, Mile High wanted it, Bronco Country demanded it and together we did it. Bronco Nation came together, collectively, and made Mile High Magic.

Denver doesn’t need a Super Man to come save us. It doesn’t work that way. It hasn’t worked that way and it won’t work that way. So what do we need? We need to stop waiting. We need to stop waiting for the right man, for the right quarter, or for the forth quarter to make it happen. The time is now! The time will always be right now.

That’s what we do; we wait. We wait until there is intolerance for the status quo and then we jump into action. Sometimes the intolerance comes in the form of rock bottom, a DUI, a bankruptcy, a divorce, a heart attack, or a suicide attempt. Sometimes it comes in the form of the two-minute warning with a several touchdown deficit.

Once we are in action it’s like magic, we’re brilliant. We create miracles in the last few minutes of the game. When we fire up and rock Mile High the defense goes three and out. When we are determined to finally lose the weight, we do. When everything is on the line we get busy. What if we stopped waiting? What if we got busy right now?

What if we stopped waiting for the right partner to come along and created a life we love? What if we stopped waiting for the right job and made our move today? What if we stopped waiting for the right candidate and made the difference we want to see in the world right now? What if we stopped waiting for Super Man to rescue our education system and took action? What if we stopped waiting for Manning to get us a W? What if we stopped waiting until the forth quarter and started putting it all on the line every single minute of the game?

What if we stopped waiting for just the right book idea? What if we stopped waiting to win the lottery? What if we stopped waiting for just the right client or connection to propel our careers into the stratosphere? What if we stopped waiting for our moment on Letterman? What if we stopped waiting for a miracle and created one?

I’ll let you in on a little secret. No one is coming. No one is coming to save you, your business, or your marriage. You are who you’ve been waiting for. No one is coming to save the Denver Broncos. It’s up to us, as a team, as Bronco Country, as Bronco Nation. We’ll need to do it everyone, every player, every coach, every fan, every referee¬– all accountable, all responsible, all in action, all wanting it bad enough. The time is now and you’re the one. The choice is yours– get busy living or die waiting.
